Celebration of Harmony Day 2012
The continuing message for Harmony Day is that Everyone Belongs, which means all Australians are a welcome part of our country, regardless of their background. It's about community participation, inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different cultures that make Australia a great place to live. In 2012 Multicultural Community Services of Central Australia is celebrating Harmony Day with the theme of “Uniting in Diversity”. We invite you to join us at the Todd Mall Markets on Sunday 18th March when the theme for the markets will be Harmony Day. Our particular contribution will be held ‘Under the Sails’ where seating and information stalls will be arranged so that people can relax, find out more about ethnic diversity in Central Australia and enjoy performances from the diverse array of Alice Springs talent in the ethnic community. We are calling for contributions from each ethnic group to perform a traditional song, a dance or combination of both, with supporting music and introductions from our Master of Ceremonies, local media personality (and Maori) Gerry Teriati Lyons. There will also be a Costume Parade with prizes for the best costume so please dress up in your favourite national costume and join in. Performances will begin at 10am and continue through the morning and early afternoon, finishing with the conclusion of the market day at approximately 1pm. Todd Mall Market Stallholders will be encouraged to decorate their stalls with harmony balloons and other colours from their cultural background. Please contact us at the MCSCA Office to find out more and to register your participation.
